Frequently Asked Questions
For FAQs about the Circuit Board, check here

  I love SoundCircuit.com! How can I help?

-There's a new page specifically for everyone who wants to Contribute.

How can I become an affiliate with SoundCircuit.com?

-You can't. If you want to submit your site to our Links Database, click here. If you'd like to advertise on SoundCircuit.com, click here.

Can I send and receive e-mail with Circuit Mail?

-Not yet. Our Circuit Mail service is just an extension of the Circuit Board, and it's primary purpose it to send private messages to other members of SoundCircuit.com. A secondary purpose is it allows you to communicate while keeping your regular e-mail address private.

  Why don't you offer myname@soundcircuit.com e-mail addresses?

-Currently, SoundCircuit.com is unable to handle the traffic and space that an e-mail service would create, but this feature is coming in the future. I am aware that some other hip-hop sites offer their users free e-mail, but they use outside sources (ex: bigmailbox.com, loadmail.com, everyone.net, etc.). This means that their users' e-mail is not stored on the site's server, which presents many potential problems. The security and privacy of their users is questionable, there are no guarantees about server downtime, and outside companies have access to their users. It also means that the e-mail system cannot be intergraded with other features of the site, so users have to sign up for e-mail after they've already signed up to use the forum. SoundCircuit.com wants to avoid all of these potential problems by only offering free e-mail when we can take responsibility for our users' privacy.

Why don't you add such and such to the site?

-Quite often, we receive e-mails from people asking us to put more of one thing or another on the site. Maintaining SoundCircuit.com is a time consuming process, and there are still some features that were thought of in April 1999 that have yet to be manifested. We don't have the time to add content based on requests, but fortunately, if you post a question on the Circuit Board, there's a very good chance that one of the other members can help you find what you're looking for.

What program do you use to take the voices off the beats? I wanna make some instrumentals of my own.

-I get this e-mail 2-3 times a week. Several people who've seen our Instrumental section are under the impression that we use some type of vocal reduction machine. The truth is all of the instrumentals from that section are the official instrumentals released from the record labels and studios. While the majority of them are from 12" records, many come from studio leaks, and instrumental LPs. None of them were created using voice reduction techniques, so if you'd like some of them...get some hook ups.

I've seen your so-called exclusive interviews on other sites...

-It's important that you all understand this. There are many shady sites out there (cowards that don't deserve to get their name mentioned here) that steal SoundCircuit.com Interviews. Most of these sites are Down South or No Limit sites that have no clue about integrity or honesty. They take reviews and switch Trevor's names and words with their own, insulting the artists in the process. Trevor has many interviewed artists on his voice mail (coming soon in real audio), and it will be evident who the frauds are. If you see sites that use our COPYRIGHTED interviews, please Contact Us ASAP!

Some of the Real Audio Interviews were encoded by Justice, but he did not conduct the interviews himself. The Copyright Information is included in the clips fields.

I have some songs that you can use. You want me to send it?

-SoundCircuit.com welcomes audio from everyone, especially when it's rare joints and new material. But there is certain criteria for adding audio, to insure the best for our viewers, and to pay respect to the artists and labels. First, make sure the files are encoded by YOU, and NOT STOLEN from other sites. We do not support piracy! Secondly, when you encode the file, be sure to include the song title, artist name, and record label in the proper fields. In the Copyright field, add the respective record label and SoundCircuit.com (to prevent theft). Credit will be given to you (unless you wish otherwise). If you have audio you want to see featured here, DO NOT send real audio files through e-mail. If you contact me, I will respond to you with proper instructions.

You rate Southern albums way too high! There's no way _____ deserves that rating.

-I got this message from a few people. Some feel we overrate Southern albums because the site is based in the south. Meanwhile I feel that other people underrate Southern hip-hop because they don't listen to enough of it to make a clear judgement. I'd be inclined to think I overrated N.O. artists, but I've spoken to hundreds of people from all over the globe that love New Orleans music more than I do. It is more often the case that people who send me this message have never even heard an album from N.O. That's just been my experience. Regardless, I still haven't found a site with a wider range of reviews than SoundCircuit.com, or a site with a staff as open-minded and well-rounded.

We also rate albums differently, based on their expectations. For a detailed description of how we rate albums, take a look at our Ratings Breakdown.

What requirements do I need to use SoundCircuit.com?

-SoundCircuit.com was designed to be user-friendly for viewers using a variety of different browsers, connection speeds, and monitor resolutions. The ideal configuration is 800 x 600 resultion on Internet Explorer 4.x or higher, with a high speed connection. If you don't have that configuration, or don't know which you have, don't worry. SoundCircuit.com will also display everything on a Netscape 4.x browser, a high or low resolution monitor, and a slow speed modems. To listen to the audio on the site, you need the latest Real Player. They don't take long to download, and they're pretty much an online standard for music files.
