During a failed attempt to create a collage of my eight favorite emcees, I decided that sometimes less is more, and came up with a different theme. There's a lot of controversy surrounding a supposed beef between Nas and Jay-Z, and many speculate on who will come out on top. I honestly believe both artists are the best at what they do, and neither threatens the other's position in hip-hop. As long as there aren't any violent outbreaks, I don't see anything wrong with some friendly competition. But fans, crew members, and most importantly, the media, should all be careful to not turn enthusiasm into instigation. I don't want to see any R.I.P. wallpapers any time soon.
Well, after failing to capture any attention making wallpapers for wodie.com (R.I.P.), I took some time from trying to impress the guys, and I honed my skills a little bit. When Sound Circuit was born (on my birthday, ironically) I figured I'd give it another go. Instead of including a selection of MC's, I decided to leave the artists out and just go for the jugular. The result was this, attempting to convey the eclectic nature that is the Sound Circuit community, but, keeping it real with lyrics by the nasty one himself. I think the quote is pretty fitting of the site, "its like the game ain't the same", since sound circuit really is unlike any other hip-hop site on the web. It's also a subtle tribute to my favorite MC, and the well deserving winner of G-Dog's last MC tournament. Enjoy.
I'd been meaning to design a wallpaper since Wodie became SoundCircuit, but I've always procrastinated. In an attempt to make up for it, I created one of my best works to date. The wallpaper features a photo of a circuit board, a 3D character created by Remc that I made a few adjustments to, and a couple of Photoshop effects. Staying in theme with the name of the site, I focused on the elements of electricity and the constant fusion of movements and impulses. I could get philosophical and say that it represents how many elements can combine to create a superb product, such as the members of the Circuit Board, but lets just say that it looks good.
This is my little tribute to one of my favorite MC's. Though he is far from the greatest, he has something about him that really sets him apart from the rest. Whether it's his haunting voice that brings back memories of the notorious one, or his devout loyalty to his mentor that ended up landing him in jail...shyne is a special individual that has really been put to the side ever since "the incident". It's sad that he wont be able to enjoy his newfound success for awhile, but hopefully Shyne will continue sharing his life with us through music while incarcerated.
